Medicare Clinics was officially registered by the Ogun State Ministry of Health as a private hospital on 21st February 1989 at its facility located at 105 Idi-Iroko road, Ota.
The vision of the hospital is to make quality health care, including specialised services, easily available and affordable to the generality of the citizenry
The services rendered at the initial phase included outpatient and inpatient facilities, surgery, maternity services, infant welfare clinic.
With the movement of the hospital to its present location at kilometre 4 Idi-Iroko road, more services like x-ray, ultrasound scanning and ECG were added. The most recent addition to its line of products is CT scan service.
The current full-time staff strength is 140, incorporating Medical Director, Consultant Family Physician, Matron, Dentist, Medical Officers, Nursing Sisters, Midwives and Nurses, Dietitian, Accountant, Public Relations Officer, Human Resources Officer, Information Technology Officer, Radiographers, Dialysis technicians, Nephrology Nurse, and other administrative and support staff.
We also have a panel of part-time Consultants in general surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, ear-nose-and-throat, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, urology, psychiatry and physiotherapy.
Significant milestones in the history of the hospital include its movement to the present location in January 1995, and the celebration of its 10th year anniversary in 1999.
The formal commissioning of the Dialysis Centre by Nigeria’s President Olusegun Obasanjo in December 2002 marked the beginning of an attempt to introduce specialised services to its range of products. This was and still is the first private initiative in this area in Ogun State.
History was also made in August 2005 when the first neurosurgical operation was successfully carried out. This was on a three-month old girl. Since then, many other brain operations have been performed.
Our ultra-modern Computerised Axial Tomography (CT) scanner was commissioned, also by Nigeria’s President Olusegun Obasanjo in May 2006. This was another bold initiative meant to l service both the government and private sectors of the health community.
The National Health Insurance Scheme has registered Medicare Clinics as a private provider, and also as a centre for laboratory and radio-diagnostic services.
In 2008, the National Postgraduate Medical College accredited the hospital for training residents in Part II Family Medicine.
Our broad clientele profile includes corporate organisations, the National Health Insurance Scheme, private Health Maintenance Organisations, government agencies and parastatals, Universities, schools, family and private individuals.
The hospital became incorporated in September 2007 as Ace Medicare Clinics Limited with a share capital of =N=10,000,000 (ten million naira)
